Illustoria's 10th Anniversary & "The Weather Keeper" Book Release Party

We can't believe it's been TEN YEARS of Illustoria, a magazine for creative kids and their grown-ups. Our tri-annual art and storytelling publication celebrates visual storytelling, comics, DIY culture, and artists.
Please join us for an afternoon of creativity and festivities. There will be all-ages art-making stations, book readings, and, of course, birthday cake! Our latest Issue 30: MAIL will be for sale, along with beautiful (and rare!) back issues.

​Our dear friends and NY-based publisher, Enchanted Lion, join the celebrations with the launch of their new glorious picture book, , illustrated by our very own Art Director Elizabeth Haidle. Author Nelly Buchet (based in Berlin) and Elizabeth will be giving a special reading of this wintery tale during the festivities.

About Illustoria

Illustoria Magazine was founded in 2016 by Joanne Meiyi Chan, a longtime children’s book editor, kid-lit lover, and mother of two. Joanne envisioned a new kind of magazine for kids—one that would showcase stories and art while giving readers insight into the creative process.

In 2019, Illustoria began publication under McSweeney’s, a longtime publisher of elegant and distinctive magazines and books, based in San Francisco. Subsequently, Illustoria became the official magazine of the International Alliance of Youth Writing Centers, amplifying and honoring youth voices in the magazine.

Dozens of stunning issues (and counting) later, Illustoria’s ethos remains: to give adults and kids a reason to slow down together and to celebrate the well-curated art and storytelling in our pages.
