Join us for this year's ever-popular community lantern making workshops!
Every year, during the lead up to the Illuminate parade, we hold free lantern making workshops where our talented team of artists will teach you, the community of Boston, how to create an illuminated artwork that you can bring along and walk with in the procession yourself.
During the two weekends of the 16th and 17th, and 23rd and 24th November, Ruth Pigott of Curiosity Creators, will show you how to create lanterns for you to take home.
The lantern’s shapes will represent different elements of this year’s Illuminate theme which is Folktales.
This year’s parade will reflect the rich tapestry of Boston’s modern identity, rooted in the tales and traditions of its residents - expect to see myths, legends, mystical creatures and fairy tales!

In July, Ruth connected with the community, gathering folk tales that reflect the spirit of the people who call Boston home. These stories inspire the themes, artwork, and lantern designs for this year’s parade.
Places are limited and must be booked in advance.
The sessions last 2.5 hours each and are open to all ages and abilities. All materials will be provided.

Boston's Illuminate Folktales Parade is a part of a programme of festive events organised by Boston Borough Council.
The event is possible thanks to Transported, Curiosity Creators, and Boston Borough Council, and is supported by funding from the South East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership National Portfolio Organisation funded by Arts Council England and Boston Borough Council.

Any under 18s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to lantern workshops and the 29th November Illuminate parade event and supervised at all times. Transported cannot take responsibility for under 18s but rigorous safety precautions and risk assessments will be in place.
