Join us for a very fundraiser for the Palm Springs Cultural Center - An evening with actress/author Illeana Douglas discussing her book Jungle Red! The Making of MGM’s The Women in conversation with literary organizer Corey Roskin.
Event will including film clips from the film version of “The Women”, book signing and special staged reading ("The Men Perform The Women") of select scenes from the play version of The Women.
$45 Admission includes a copy of Jungle Red! The Making of MGM’s The Women.
Illeana Douglas has appeared in classic films like Goodfellas, Cape Fear, To Die For Grace of My Heart, Stir of Echoes, and Ghost World. Her latest, The Greatest Man in The World will be released in 2027. On television, Illeana received an Emmy nomination for her portrayal of Angela on Six Feet Under, and credits include Goliath, Search Party, Shrill, Entourage.
Illeana is the granddaughter of two-time Academy Award–winning actor Melvyn Douglas. A film historian and essayist, she interviewed a pantheon of cinema greats for Turner Classic Movies, participated in scores of film documentaries, including The Making of The Wizard of Oz, Rock Hudson: All That Heaven Allowed, CNN: The Movies, Greatest Cult Films of All Time, The True Adventures of Raoul Walsh, Kino Lorber’s Pioneers: First Women Filmmakers, which she executive-produced and hosted, and is a contributor to Joe Dabte’s Trailers From Hell. Her books include I Blame Dennis Hopper: And Other Stories from a Life Lived In and Out of the Movies(2015) Connecticut in the Movies : From Dream Houses to Dark Suburbia (2023) and Jungle Red! The Making of MGM’s The Women out now.
Corey Roskin has been programming and co-producing literary events for 24 years including the West Hollywood Book Fair, Lambda Lit Fest, Omega Sci-Fi Awards and Palm Springs Pride on the Page. For 29 years he also worked for the City of West Hollywood, most notably coordinating special events and projects as part of the City’s Social Services Division. Roskin currently serves on the Board of the Palm Springs Public Library Foundation and on the special events team at the Palm Springs Cultural Center. He also dabbles in writing fiction and personal stories and has volunteered for a variety of social services and cultural arts programs for almost 40 years.

“The Men Peform The Women” - Cast
Brent Anderson’s theater credits include Van in Witchland at Revolution Stage Company, Dale Harding at Palm Canyon in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, Jack Mann in The Beebo Brinker Chronicles at Desert Ensemble, among many others in which he received Desert Theater League Awards nominations. He has also acted and directed many staged readings at S2S2S and won a DTL Award for best production for his direction of A Very Holly Moosemas. Brent is very excited to work with everyone involved in this production!

Billy L’Amour is a Palm Springs-based entertainer known for her special cocktail of powerhouse vocals, dance, comedy, and theatrical storytelling. A former soloist ballet dancer with the Paris Opera, Billy has created, produced, and starred in 37 original cabaret and theatrical works in Palm Springs with her theater company, Theater L’Amour. You can catch her performing around town with her live band, Billy L’Amour & The Love Notes.
Terry Ray is a veteran of well over 200 plays, TV shows and films as an actor, writer, producer and director. Ray wrote or co-wrote, created and starred in several original shows including the multi-award winning short film GAYDAR with Charles Nelson Reilly, MY SISTER IS SO GAY (Amazon Prime) with Loni Anderson, HERE! TV’s first sitcom FROM HERE ON OUT with Juliet Mills, SHE’S STILL ON THE FREAKIN‘ ISLAND with Dawn Wells and TV THERAPY with a long list of classic TV stars. Ray is the co-writer of the TV movie LOVE UNPLUGGED starring Mischa Barton, David Ogden Stiers and Markie Post. Terry’s play ELECTRICITY has received rave reviews across the country and enjoyed a record breaking nearly four year run in Palm Springs. His play THE LINCOLN DEBATE launched Palm Springs' critically acclaimed LGBTQ+ theater, The Bent, which Ray co-founded along with Steve Rosenbaum. Ray serves as The Bent’s Managing Director.
