Irish Grassland Association Beef Summer Event to Take Place on Breffni Charolais Herd
Irish Grassland Association will host its Beef Summer Event on Thursday, July 30 at 6.30 pm on the farm of Sebana Moynagh, home of the Breffni Pedigree Charolais Herd, Mount Nugent, Co. Cavan A82E778.
The Breffni Charolais herd runs approximately 90 pedigree Charolais cows in a performance recorded, grass-based system, operating with 100% AI and predominantly autumn calving. The herd is focused on breeding functional, milky and fertile females, while producing bulls with high carcass weight, fleshing ability and calving ease for suckler farmers.
The focus of the event will be on how Sebana uses animal genetics, herd health planning, paddock grazing infrastructure, and reseeding to achieve high levels of animal performance in a labour-efficient grass-based system.
Visitors will have the opportunity to view cows and calves, weanling bulls and heifers, as well as cattle handling and housing facilities on the farm. Food will be served to all who arrive at 6pm sharp, with the farm walk beginning at 6.30pm.
