About this Event

Developed over a series of participatory workshops led by artist Phillip Davenport and co-produced by people in recovery from Oldham, If You Could Speak to the World... brings together poetry, music and field recordings.

It invites audiences to foster deeper connections, with wellbeing, each other and the natural world through walking, listening, memory and place - positioning nature and nurture as art.

Throughout September, members of our workshop group will lead audiences along the trails in real life, performing the poems as they go, and giving insight to the creative process.

If You Could Speak to the World… is a Portraits of Recovery commission, developed and delivered in partnership with Northern Roots, Turning Point (Oldham and Rochdale) and generously funded by Transport for Greater Manchester under programme.

Through exhibitions, performances and creative events, Recoverist Month places the arts at the centre of conversations on substance use and recovery. Held every September to mark International Recovery Month, this annual programme brings artists, communities and audiences together across venues around the UK, making a vibrant contribution to the contemporary cultural landscape.
