Noslēdzot septiņas nedēļas ilgušo mākslas rezidenci, Maxim Boxer Gallery aicina no 15. līdz 18. aprīlim apmeklēt mākslinieces Ievas Stalšenes pop-up izstādi “MĀKSL1N13KA R3Z1D3NC3” (Mākslinieka rezidence). Izstādē līdzās pastāvēs gan aizvadītās rezidences vizuālie meklējumi, gan mākslinieces dabiskā darba telpa, ļaujot gūt padziļinātu ieskatu lēmumu pieņemšanas un darba tehniskajos procesos.
Rezidences laikā Stalšene pievērsusies galvenokārt tehniskiem meklējumiem glezniecībā un attīstījusi konceptuālo kodolu savam topošajam maģistra darbam, ko šī gada jūnijā paredzēts aizstāvēt Latvijas Mākslas akadēmijas glezniecības apakšnozarē.
Radošais pētījums, kuru šī izstāde ievada, aizsācies 2023. gadā, kad Stalšene savam maģistra darbam veltīja avangarda izdevuma Avīzes Nosaukums maija numuru, uzdodot jautājumu: “Kam tic mākslinieks?” Turpmākais pētījums veidojies kā mākslinieces introspektīvs, emocionāls pārdzīvojums, kas ietver ticības zaudējumu un tās atkārtotus meklējumus, zvaigzni kā vizuālā koda centrālo tēlu.
“Arī zvaigznes mirst... Tās tiešās un pārnestās nozīmes zvaigznes, pret kurām esam vērsušies ilgās un cerībās, siltuma un gaismas meklējumos. Gāzes giganti gaismas gadu attālumā — tiešām mirst. Kosmosa likumi — ko tur skumt? Bet mirst arī tuvās zvaigznes. Mirst ideju un ideālu zvaigznes, beidzas Rīgas Laiks. Un, ja laiks ir beidzies — kas ir palicis? Kas paliks, kad beigšos es?” komentē māksliniece, atklājot koncepta aizmetņus.
Izstāde būs atvērta no 15. līdz 18. aprīlim, un tās laikā apmeklētājiem būs iespēja tikties ar mākslinieci klātienē, pārrunājot gan darbu tapšanas procesu, gan konceptuālos aspektus.

Ieva Stalšene (dz. 1994) ir latviešu vizuālā māksliniece. Absolvējusi Latvijas Mākslas akadēmijas scenogrāfijas apakšnozari, šobrīd turpina studijas glezniecības maģistra programmā un ir aktīva arī kā kuratore un scenogrāfe. Viņas darbos sastopama dziļa interese par ticības mehānismiem, dvēseles nemirstību un cilvēka iekšējās pasaules robežām.

To mark the conclusion of a seven-week-long artist residency, Maxim Boxer Gallery invites the public to visit the pop-up exhibition “MĀKSL1N13KA R3Z1D3NC3” (“Art1st Res1dency”) by Ieva Stalšene, on view from April 15 to 18. The exhibition brings together visual explorations developed during the residency and the artist’s actual working environment, offering an intimate insight into the decision-making and technical processes behind the work.
Throughout the residency, Stalšene has focused on technical experimentation in painting while developing the conceptual framework of her upcoming master’s thesis, scheduled for defense in June 2025 at the Painting Department of the Art Academy of Latvia.
This creative inquiry began in 2023 when Stalšene dedicated the May issue of the avant-garde publication Avīzes Nosaukums to the core question of her research: "What does the artist believe in?" The project has since evolved into an introspective and emotionally charged investigation — a journey through disillusionment and renewed searching, with the star as its central visual motif.
"Stars die, too... Both literally and metaphorically. The stars we turn to in longing and hope, in search of warmth and light — even the gas giants light-years away — they truly die. It’s just physics. But close stars die as well. The stars of ideas and ideals — Rīgas Laiks comes to an end. And if time has ended — what remains? What will be left when I am gone?" the artist reflects, revealing the conceptual roots of the exhibition.
The exhibition will be open from April 15 to 18, with opportunities to meet the artist and engage in conversations about the creative process and underlying themes.

About the artist:
Ieva Stalšene (b. 1994) is a Latvian visual artist. She holds a BA in Scenography from the Art Academy of Latvia and is pursuing her MA in Painting. Stalšene is also active as a curator and scenographer. Her artistic practice is driven by a profound interest in systems of belief, the immortality of the soul, and the boundaries of the human inner world.
