This CPD module is intended to allow delegates to explore the key factors when considering R&D led growth in a locality
About this Event

Important - this webinar will run over 2 separate sessions, each running for 90 minutes on the 12th and 13th November 2024.

This CPD module is intended to allow delegates to explore the key factors when considering R&D led growth, including:

  • The importance of development and productivity in the economy
  • Government levers for research & development (patent box, tax credits)
  • Wider government initiatives – Innovation Zones and the new emphasis on technology
  • The wider public sector landscape including Catapults
  • HEI and role – different initiatives for working with business
  • Incubators / accelerators – critical success factors
  • Private sector funding and the role of VC in different guises

The course is run in a participative manner and is aimed at creating a practical experience with applicability to all economic development practitioners both from the course learning, examples of good and poor practice and the interaction with other delegates.

This course will be led by Nigel Wilcock, Executive Director of the IED.

Attendance is open to both IED members and non IED members.

F or those of you completing the Advanced Certificate in Economic Development, this is one of the modules in that programme.

The webinar sessions will be on:

  • 12th November 2.00-3.30pm
  • 13th November 2.00-3.30pm

There is an expectation that delegates will attend both webinars. If you are unable to attend both, you can request a recording of the missed webinar, but there will be no discount should you not be able to attend both.

Please note that the webinars will be conducted via Zoom or MS Teams and you will be able to ask live questions via the chat during the course of the sessions.

The inclusive price for this session (2 x 90 minute webinars) is £65 for IED members and £130 for non IED members. No VAT is chargeable. Pay by invoice is possible.

If you are undertaking this module as part of the Advanced Certificate in Economic Development, you don't need to book on via Eventbrite as all details will be sent to you separately by [email protected].

Please note, if you are not yet an IED member, why not consider joining to take advantage of the member rate for this and future CPD events? Get in touch with us at [email protected] for further info.

We will send you a link to each webinar in the days running up to the first session.

Remember, the IED requires ALL associate and full members to log at least 40 hours of CPD over a two year period. Half of all CPD logged – 20 hours – needs to consist of formal CPD activity.

Please note that we are happy to provide this course or other CPD courses directly to your organisation - for now, these will all be delivered online. Please get in touch with us for more details.
