The Mackay Waterfront Place Strategy is a collaborative project setting short and long term goals to support placemaking in the City Centre and Riverfront - helping the areas to offer more for residents, better support local businesses and attract more visitors.
This May, Council will run an event where community can test and trial ideas in a low-risk way, to lead us to longer-term solutions.
On the 26th February, we're getting together to hear what ideas are out there, so we can collaboratively develop them to deliver at the May event. Attend as a presenter or as an audience member.
If you've got an idea for an annual festival, let's test it out by doing a mini version on an afternoon in May. If you want to see more permanent shade structures somewhere, let's put up something temporary to see if it makes a difference. If you want to build a community around your favourite sport, let's get some teams together!
On this evening in February, you will have the chance to pitch your idea to a room full of people who also want to drive things forward in Mackay. Together we can develop your suggestion, work out who needs to be involved, find support and get closer to bringing it to fruition.
Everyone is welcome and you don't have to pitch an idea. Please do come along to listen and support others in developing their proposals, and help us to identify priorities.
