ABOUT THE PLAY
This set of short plays (by six authors) comprises the 2016 winners of the biennial TakeTen festival writing contest at Chesil Theatre, one of England's oldest and most beloved dramatic societies.
The plays are clever, funny, and poignant, and otherwise thematically unrelated, although most focus on close interpersonal relationships.
“Laura”
Two old friends reconnect unexpectedly in a record shop and find what was lost in a copy of Space Oddity.
“The Glass Spider”
A man visits his estranged mother in a hospital, seeking a connection after the death of his loving father.
“The Golden Years”
A long-married couple makes other arrangements.
“Strangers When We Meet”
A man woos his wife, who isn’t quite sure who he is.
“Try To Get It On Like Once Before”
Two young people in an unspecified future learn about an unusual proposal.
“The Man Who Mis-Sold the World”
Major Tom, adrift in the heavens, makes a deal with two intergalactic parking enforcement officers.
DATES AND AUDITION/REHEARSAL INFORMATION
Performances: May 7–10 (four performances, Thursday–Saturday evenings and Sunday matinees).

If at all possible, please print out and complete the audition form in advance, and print out your own copy of the script; copies will be available.
Auditions are at Paradox Hall, Morgan Arts Council’s Ice House, 138 Independence Street, Berkeley Springs, WV 25411 (use Mercer Street entrance).
ROLES: CASTING 2–10 MEN, 1–9 WOMEN
The cast could be as small as two men, one woman, and two any gender; or as large as seven men, six women, and three any gender.
