Join us at Pembroke Auditorium for an exceptional evening with one of the most celebrated Lied interpreters of his generation, tenor Ian Bostridge CBE, accompanied by acclaimed pianist Joseph Middleton.
Hailed as one of the foremost Schubertians of our time, Bostridge brings a career spanning the world’s greatest concert halls and opera houses, together with recordings recognised with fifteen Gramophone Awards, to this deeply expressive programme of Schubert and Britten.
The evening explores two composers at the heart of Bostridge’s artistic life, bringing together Schubert’s lyrical landscapes with Britten’s profound ** The Holy Sonnets of John Donne **.
The programme opens with a rich selection of Schubert songs, including Im Frühling, Über Wildemann, Auf der Brücke, Aus Heliopolis and Totengräbers Heimweh, before the evening culminates in Britten’s complete The Holy Sonnets of John Donne, Op. 35.
“One of the most celebrated Lied interpreters of his generation.”
