About the story: In the intense final moments of the 2003 High School Ultimate Frisbee National Tournament, the Amherst Hurricanes appear poised to clinch victory over reigning champions Paideia Gruel. But a controversial self-officiated foul call threatens their win.
I Was a Hurricane is a three-part documentary miniseries that explores the pivotal moments that shape young boys into men, delving into the challenges, triumphs, and lasting impact of high-stakes competition. The series explores community, resilience, and what it truly means to grow—not just to win.
Be the force driving indie filmmaking forward.

By attending this event, you’re more than a spectator, you’re actively championing I Was a Hurricane, helping ensure the story is told authentically and without compromise. There is no better embodiment of that commitment than Cindependent.
