Tonight we're gonna celebrate some of the artists and videos that inspired us in this decade. The 90s music scene was defined by vibrant diversity, blending raw, angsty grunge (Nirvana, Pearl Jam) with polished teen pop (Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys), the "Golden Age" of Hip-Hop (Tupac, Biggie), influential R&B (TLC, Mariah Carey), and the explosion of electronic music (Daft Punk, Prodigy) and Britpop (Oasis, Blur). It was a decade where counterculture and mainstream music merged, fostering genre fusions like nu-metal, ska-punk, and trip-hop, while country music also broke into the mainstream with crossover stars.
Plus since it's women's history month - we do a special tribute to the iconic music festival LILITH FAIR which was a successful, all-female music festival tour founded by Sarah McLachlan in 1997, which ran in the late 90s. The festival was created to challenge the music industry's then-common belief that female artists couldn't be billed together, and featured artists like Sheryl Crow, Erykah Badu, and Missy Elliott. It was one of the top-grossing music festivals of its time and donated over $10 million to women's charities, fostering a sense of community and empowerment.
So join us for a show that's sure to be all that and a bag of chips.
