🌿 About the Workshop
Are you ready to deepen your understanding of core therapeutic processes such as transference, counter-transference, projective identification, triggers, and parallel processes?
Do you:
• Notice these dynamics in your work but feel unsure how to respond?
• Feel perplexed about what to do with these insights?
• Want to translate theory into embodied, reflexive practice?
This experiential workshop offers a unique opportunity to refine your attunement, distinguish between these processes, and develop practical interventions.

🌊 A Personal Invitation
Drawing from over 25 years of clinical experience, this workshop integrates gestalt, systemic, attachment, trauma-informed, and expressive arts approaches.
Across diverse contexts—including mental health, education, residential care, addiction services, and supervision—a consistent insightful process has emerged:
Our capacity for authentic reflexivity is one of the most essential resources we bring to our work.
As time progressed, much of my work became increasingly focused on supervision, training, and consultancy. Working across these contexts continued to direct my attention to the crucial importance of these processes—so much so that today, I would say that the ability to take responsibility for our authentic personal and professional reflexivity is one of the most essential ingredients that every helping professional requires.
This workshop invites you into that space—where awareness becomes transformative practice.

🌿 Theoretical Grounding
This work is informed by systemic and reflexive traditions (Lowe, 2015; Ward, 2013; Jensen, 2007; McGoldrick, 1992), emphasising:
• Resonance and co-construction
• Triggers and parallel processes
• The practitioner’s contribution to the relational field
I recommend training and supervision that invite practitioners to examine their own contribution to the therapeutic process, as also advocated by Lowe (2015) and Ward (2013) (cited in Grech, 2017).
As highlighted in my Ph.D. research:
“Practitioners (…) can benefit by becoming familiar with systemic concepts such as resonance, parallel connections (Jensen, 2007b), triggers (McGoldrick, 1992), polarisation (Carr, 1989) and co-construction (Flaskas & Perlesz, 1996) and how these dynamics operate in the whole system of care (Sprince, 2002).”
(Grech, 2017, p.329)
Grounded in trauma-informed practice (Malchiodi, van der Kolk, Levine), participants will be invited to explore the dynamic interplay between top-down and bottom-up processes, and how these shape both meaning-making and embodied, somatic experience.
In this experiential workshop, we will actively practice these processes within a reflexive environment, drawing from trauma-informed, multi-sensory, and attuned approaches. Participants will be invited to engage in ways that feel comfortable and available to them, cultivating awareness that can be transformed into grounded, ethical, and responsive therapeutic interventions.
