I Ola Hāloa Cooking Cohort
About this Event
Aloha mai kākou! Join us for a five-week, hands-on cooking series that celebrates kalo and other traditional foods while supporting the health of our kaiāulu! Each week, participants will prepare delicious, low-sodium recipes, learn practical skills to reduce hypertension risk, and connect cultural knowledge with everyday wellness.
This series is for all ages and all skill levels—perfect for keiki, kūpuna, and everyone in between. We’ll focus on simple, affordable, ʻohana-friendly meals you can actually make at home.
Each class will be held at the AloHā Resource & Community from 6:30pm to 8pm. Please see specific dates below:
Agenda:
- Week 1 - February 17: Kalo as a Foundation
- Week 2 - February 24: Kalo & Traditional Food
- Week 3 - March 3: Pilina to Land and Food
- Week 4 - March 10: ʻOhana Meals (Kalo-Centered Foods for Everyone)
- Week 5 - March 17: Hoʻokupu ʻAi Kalo (Community Feast)
*Please note that attending every class is not required, but highly recommended.
The cost of each ticket is $100. We have 10 tickets available. Your ticket will cover you for the full duration of the cohort!
