About this Event

I Can't Workshops: Spotlight on Indigenous Heritage

Where do beads come from, and why are Czech glass seed beads so prized in Native American powwow regalia? Learn the history and get a buyer's guide to beads while making a simple stretch bracelet. We'll compare seed beads from around the world, then take a close look at beadwork examples, with an emphasis on Southern Plains gourd/peyote beadweaving, with visiting Comanche artist Cynthia Masterson.

This workshop is a partnership with TCC’s Native American Student Alliance.
