I Bird NYU Big Sit Event
About this Event
This year, the NYU Urban Bird Project (aka I Bird NYU) is bringing together bird enthusiasts from all over the city to participate in the Big Sit!
The Big Sit! is a semi-competitive birding event originated by the New Haven Bird Club in 1992. It is free and open to anyone — individuals and teams — all over the world. We've registered a team on behalf of I Bird NYU and are inviting all who wish to spend positive, quality time getting to know some birds to join us.
The event will happen from 9am to 6pm, but no one has to stay the whole time. Come for as long as you want, and spend some time quietly sitting and getting to know the birds who travel through NYC on their way to warmer grounds!
RSVP is not mandatory, but it is highly encouraged.
Some vegan snacks will be provided, but we expect to have many participants, so we encourage you to bring your own snacks as well.
About the NYU Urban Bird Project (I Bird NYU): The NYU Urban Bird Project (I BIRD NYU) promotes collaboration between faculty, administrators, and students from across New York University and our neighbiors who want to advance the interests of birds through scholarship, creative practice, and community building. As part of the All Animals Initiative, we help folks understand that our communities are made of more than just humans, and that all our multispecies community members deserve to live with dignity and our respect.
