I BECAME CHANGED
Every drawing begins with permission.
Every encounter leaves a trace.
Some people pass through our lives unnoticed. Others leave us quietly altered.
This exhibition begins with those moments.
Working in ink, pencil, charcoal, paint, pastel and chalk, Jason Broadbent creates intimate works centred on the male body, shaped through trust, conversation and careful attention. Each piece begins as an encounter between artist and sitter, where vulnerability becomes collaboration and every mark carries the memory of time shared.
Rooted in queer experience yet resonating far beyond it, I BECAME CHANGED explores what happens when we allow ourselves to truly see another person, and to be seen in return.
These aren’t drawings of naked men, they’re drawings of trust.
These are not idealised bodies or polished narratives. They are live records. The charcoal remains dusty. The Ink bleeds. Paint records hesitation as readily as confidence. Every imperfection becomes evidence that someone was here.
The exhibition invites visitors not simply to observe, but to slow down. To look without judgement. To recognise something familiar in another person’s vulnerability.
Jason will be present throughout the evening, welcoming conversation about the work, the process and the people who helped shape it.
*Private sittings from 8pm*
A limited number of visitors will have the opportunity to step beyond the role of observer and become part of the process.
You can register your interest in advance to pose nude for an intimate, one-to-one drawing session with Jason. Places are limited, and registering interest does not guarantee a sitting.
There is no pressure and no performance. It is simply a continuation of the same permission, trust and attention that created the work on the walls.
Every ticket also includes entry into a prize draw to win an original framed artwork from the exhibition.
Come curious, Leave changed.
