“I Am Tony Khawam: A Modern Identity” marks Tony Khawam’s exciting Orlando debut at Mills Gallery!
This solo exhibition explores the ever-evolving nature of identity through the work of Syrian American artist, Tony Khawam, whose work blends symbols of American pop culture and global icons with influences from Italian Renaissance and the ancient Mesopotamian worlds.
Drawing upon his graphic design background in the relentless energy of New York City’s contemporary art scene, Khawam’s work is full of themes involving heritage, unification, community and experimentation to embody the spirit of the American “melting pot” while creating works that embrace the coexistence of ancient and modern traditions.
