Bassist, percussionist and bandleader David Ernesto (Nesto) Vanegas returns to our stage with this electrifying, locally loved ensemble flipping the script on jazz tradition. With multicultural beats that stretch from Havana to Harlem, Nesto’s Jazz blends hard bop, samba and mambo into a fiery fusion that’s bold, percussive and vibrantly alive. Rooted in rhythm and driven by deep musical chops, the band channels the legacy of artists like Tito Puente, Charles Mingus and Chick Corea into jazz that thrums with the pulse of Latin and Caribbean grooves.ABOUT THE ARTIST
David “Nesto” Vanegas earned his Master’s in Music and Music Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. He now teaches at Seminole State College of Florida while leading a standout lineup featuring Matthew Biggers (piano,) Paul Terry (drum kit) and Justin Steger (vibraphone.) A new studio album is currently in the works, slated for release in 2026.
