About this Event
Explore antique quilts with a lecture by Pam Weeks, the Binney Family Curator of the New England Quilt Museum in Lowell, Massachusetts. Pam's lecture will focus on “New England Quilts and the Stories They Tell”.
A light lunch will be served after the lecture, as well as a tour of the Hyland House Museum and its quilts. Afterwards, Pam will conduct a Quilt Assessment/Roadshow, where she will evaluate antique quilts brought by attendees, for an additional charge (this is an add-on ticketed event).
Lecture, Light Lunch and House Tours tickets are $45.
Quilt Assessmenet will be an additional $30. Each individual will be given a 20 minute time slot. Times will be emailed to you a week before the event.
All proceeds to benefit the Hyland House museum. The Hyland House is a Non Profit Historic House Museum.

Info: Quilts tell stories, and quilt history is full of myths and misinformation as well as heart-warming tales of service and tradition. Nearly every world culture that has cold weather uses quilted textiles – quilting is NOT just an American art. Pam Weeks weaves world history, women's history, industrial history and just plain wonderful stories into her presentation. Participants are invited to bring one quilt for identification and/or story sharing (for an add-on ticketed event). Prompted in part by the material culture at hand, the presenter may speak about fashion fads, the Colonial Revival, quilt making for Civil War soldiers, and anything else quilt-related she can squeeze in

Quilt Assessment/Roadshow

Info: As an "add-on" ticketed event of $30 per quilt, Pam will date, measure and describe your quilt in twenty-minute sessions, . You will be provided with a form to fill out on your quilt beforehand, and add other details provided by Pam as the assessment progresses. The assessments will be provided in a public setting, with other attendees watching.
