Join us as we visit the Manatees! Cold Weather Permitting.
State Park Entrance Fee $6 per car (Single occupant $4) Cash Only! (Pedestrian/bike fee $2 per person)
HW Walk Fee $4 Cash or Blue Dot
After paying at gate, proceed straight. Follow signs for the boat ramp parking area, keep going to furthest parking area. Our Start will be set up on a picnic table in front of the house. Look for IVV Banner, yellow "Walk Start" sign & HW club banner.
To walk with the Group Walk, arrive early (8:15 AM)
If not walking with group: Walk Registration CLOSES at 9:00 AM. Finish: All walkers must your turn in your Start Card # to the Finish Table.
Walks include grassy park trails, sandy park trails, maintenance roads, campground areas and of course, the extensive boardwalks around the springs themselves.
REGISTRATION from 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM. Group walk starts at 9:00AM ..
This is the largest spring on the St. Johns River and is a designated Manatee Refuge during the winter, home to a growing population of the West Indian Manatees.
DIRECTIONS: 2100 W French. (From I-4 W, exit 114; SR 472 W 3.1 miles; US 17-92 S. 1.7 miles; right on West French. 2.0 miles, left to Park. From I-4 E, exit 111B, W on Saxon. 1.3 miles; right on Enterprise one mile; right on US 17-92 two miles; left on West French two miles, left to Park.
Trail is rated 1B and is 60% shaded. Recommend good walking or hiking shoes, sunscreen and carrying water. Much of the trail is NOT suitable for strollers or wheelchairs. Walk includes unpaved roads, sandy hiking trail, dirt/grassy trails. If it rains in the days before the walk, trail will be muddy. Park fills up rapidly on weekends causing rangers to close gates. Go early on weekends or call ahead to check availability. This is the largest spring on the St Johns River and is a designated Manatee Refuge during the winter and is home to a growing population of the West Indian Manatee. Manatees are present only in colder winter months.
