12th February 2026 - Day 1 – Valley Floor to Coastal Roar
Our 4-day cycling adventure kicks off bright and early today. We're departing Stratford at 8:00am sharp and heading to Upper Hutt. After a picnic lunch, we'll ease into the journey with gentle gradient and peaceful river views, 27km ride along the designated cycleway to Petone. We'll follow the scenic Hutt River all the way to the sea.
Once we arrive, we'll check into our motel in the Upper Hutt area to freshen up before heading out for a well-deserved celebratory dinner at a local restaurant.
Meals today include – picnic style lunch and restaurant dinner
13th February - Day 2 – Rail Trails & Country Charms
After a hearty breakfast, you'll be transferred to the beginning of the famous Remutaka Incline—an iconic rail trail steeped in history and natural beauty. Pedal at your own pace through tranquil bush corridors, marvel at century-old tunnels and sweeping bridges, and pause to read fascinating storyboards that trace the railway’s legacy.
The ride gently levels out as you approach Featherston, where a delicious lunch awaits in this character-filled town. You'll have time to explore the quirky bookshops that line its streets or drop by the Fell Locomotive Museum for a closer look at New Zealand’s only remaining Fell engine.
For the afternoon, choose your own adventure:
• Cycle to Greytown along quiet country roads and off-road trails. On this section is one of NZ’s longest cycle path suspension bridges then onto a stop at the picturesque Woodside Station before the final 5km to the motel OR
• Ride in style by loading your bike onto the trailer, at Featherston and relaxing as a passenger en-route to charming Greytown.
Whether you keep spinning or take a break, this day offers the perfect blend of storytelling, scenery, and soulful town exploration.
2 night stay at Oak Estate Motor Lodge – Greytown
Meals today include – breakfast, café lunch and restaurant dinner
14th February – Day 3 – Pinnacles to Cape Palliser Lighthouse
Let the landscape lead the way on this amazing day shaped by time and tide along the dramatic coastline as you cycle 24km from the Putangirua Pinnacles carpark to the iconic Cape Palliser Lighthouse. This scenic route winds past windswept cliffs and through the fishing village of Ngawi, where bulldozers — not boat ramps — haul vessels into the surf, creating one of New Zealand’s most photographed maritime quirks.
Along the way, see fur seals home to the North Island’s largest population. During summer months, you may even spot playful pups lounging on the rocks.
After your pick up at the lighthouse, we’ll revisit Ngawi and stop at the seal colony before heading to the Lake Ferry Hotel for a well-earned refreshment. If you’re still feeling adventurous, take a short walk out onto the Ōnoke sand spit, where the lake meets the sea — a serene spot to reflect on the day’s journey.
Meals today include breakfast, picnic lunch and restaurant dinner
15th February – Day 4 – Homeward bound via Manawatu
The newly opened Te Ahu a Turanga – Manawatū Tararua Highway is more than just a road—it’s a scenic experience. The 11.5 km stretch between Woodville and Ashhurst now includes a shared use path (SUP) for cyclists and walkers, running alongside the highway.
Here’s what makes it special: Epic views: From the summit, you’ll get sweeping vistas of the Manawatū Plains and Te Āpiti Wind Farm. Smooth descent: After the climb, the downhill ride is exhilarating. Access points are easy to access. Cultural touches: Iwi-designed artworks and lookout areas add depth to the journey. The gradient is steep—up to 10% from the Ashhurst side—so it’s a good idea to pace yourself on the way up.
Meals today are breakfast only – lunch own cost on-route home
$1595.00 per person (twin/double share)
