This workshop will provide awareness and understanding of major hurricanes and flash flooding with the goal of protecting life and property.
About this Event

The number one killer in a Hurricane is not the wind, it's the flash flooding. This Hurricanes Mean Business Workshop is being sponsored by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in cooperation with the Connecticut Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security, Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, and the National Weather Service. The workshop is intended for homeowners and businesses to raise awareness of the risks and threats from damaging winds, power outages and flash flooding from hurricanes.

The Impact of Climate Change on Extreme Rainfall Presented by UCONN

Info: Extreme rainfall events like the August 18th Flooding in Western Connecticut last summer and the catastrophic flooding in North Carolina last year from Hurricane Helene are becoming more common. Don't get caught in a flash flood. Learn about the risk and what you can do.
