About this Event
Humberlands: Solstice Walk with Steve Dixie
Join us for a photography walk at Cleethorpes Beach to celebrate the summer solstice with nature photographer Steve Dixie. It’s happening on June 21, 2026 at 3:30 AM (BST). Perfect way to welcome the longest day of the year, enjoy some fresh air, and great photography opportunities by the sea. Don’t forget warm clothing.
Celebrate the start of summer by capturing the sun rising over Spurn Point. Set up and be ready with a suitable camera and lens. The light will change rapidly from around 04:00 to the sunrise at 04:30 and Spurn will be silhouetted by the changing light. The light will also reflect in the The Humber, the beach pools and on the wet sand in the foreground.
Depending on your set up you may even capture wading birds silhouetted. The event will be run by Steve Dixey, a local coastal photographer with many years of experience of this environment who will be on hand to advise and guide.
Please note: Wear warm clothing; as we will be stood around for up to an hour and dawn is usually the coolest part of the day.
And suitable footwear: Wellies; useful but not essential although they will give you a bit more flexibility as where to stand. Otherwise outdoor footwear bearing in mind it may be cool and sand may be wet.
Failure to come prepared in the right clothing may result in your rejection from the event due to safety.
