About this Event

human—nature: Wildlife Walk | Woodberry Wetlands

Winter is a good time to observe wildlife at Woodberry Wetlands, with many water birds present on the reservoirs and surrounding habitats. This dusk walk is a chance to slow down, observe what’s around you, and unwind at the end of the week. There is no expectation to identify species or learn facts — simply to spend time outside and notice movement, sound, and seasonal change.

You may see species such as tufted ducks, shovelers, pochards, great crested grebes, mute swans, and other winter visitors, but observation is entirely optional and at your own pace.

This is a gentle, approximately 1-hour walk around the reserve on established paths, with some gentle inclines. The walk is fully outdoors, so please dress for winter conditions. Sturdy footwear is recommended.

Binoculars are welcome if you have them, but not essential. Please bring water.

Meeting point:
The Coal House Café (under the marquee), Woodberry Wetlands

Accessibility:
Generally well maintainedlevel paths, accessible facilities, and disabled parking, with the main route from the entrance to the Coal House being fully accessible with no steep gradients. You'll find disabled toilets and accessible seating, though the Coal House café's roof terrace requires stairs.

Please inform the walk leader in advance if you have a condition that may affect your participation.

Amenities:
Public toilets and food options are limited once we enter the forest. Please plan ahead and bring what you need.

What to bring:
Water bottle
Sturdy walking shoes or boots with good grip
Weather appropriate clothing
Phone or camera (optional)
