Human Books: ‘You are always stronger than you think’

"Having been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, a crippling autoimmune disease, in my 20s, I was forced to make huge lifestyle decisions and had to learn to live with debilitating chronic pain and disability, people's misunderstanding about my disease and the toxic side effects of drugs. I have been through very dark times emotionally and physically and have been forced to end my career as a dentist. However, I am now a nearly qualified solicitor, am weightlifting and running, and catching up on the 20 odd years I lost to pain! My mottos in life remain, 'never give up' and 'life is too short."

Join us at Kenilworth Library on Wednesday 12th February for our Human Books event!
Human Books are volunteers who share their stories with you, the readers. In 20 minutes, you can learn about a stranger’s life, their journey, and what they’ve learnt along the way, embracing the opportunity to open up and listen to another human being without judgement.
We welcome readers over the age of 18 to these events, as many of our books will be sharing challenging experiences, and potentially using sensitive language.
Please read the titles and blurbs carefully before you select your book and time slot. There are limited slots per book, so please ensure that you cancel ahead of the event if you are unable to attend.
We have various 'books' for you to choose from with different time slots for 1 to 1 sessions.
