Join us for an immersive and interactive day at Hilltop Urban Gardens (HUG)! Explore how we transform urban land into thriving community spaces that support food sovereignty and cultural connection. Our guided farm tour will give you a comprehensive understanding of how we utilize urban land to grow fresh produce and cultivate plant medicine right here in Tacoma.
Event Highlights:
🍅 U-Pick Fundraiser: Attendees can harvest their own fresh produce and submit a suggested donation based on the volume of specific crops they pick. This is a great way to enjoy fresh, organic food straight from the source while supporting our community initiatives.
📚 Storytelling Session (12:00 PM - 12:15 PM): Experience an engaging 15-minute session of African Mythology storytelling, connecting you to cultural roots and traditions that have inspired generations.
🥁 African Diaspora Drumming (1:30 PM): Conclude the farm tour with a powerful 30-minute drumming and percussion listening session. Feel the deep rhythms of the African diaspora, a spiritual and cultural experience that honors the connection between land, community, and spirit.
Throughout the day, we’ll provide organic refreshments to keep you energized as you explore, learn, and connect. Whether you're passionate about sustainable farming, interested in cultural storytelling, or simply want a fun and educational day outdoors, this event is for you!
