HUG Heroes | HeroScan
HeroScan is the foundation of the HUG Heroes journey. Before heroes know what to do, they first learn how to notice what is happening inside their body, emotions, energy, and mind.
Through story, play, movement, imagination, and neuroscience-informed activities, children and parents will journey into the world of Scan Island — a magical adventure designed to help children build emotional awareness, body awareness, and self-regulation skills in a safe and engaging way.
This session introduces children to the core HUG Heroes language and tools, helping them begin to understand:
💜 What emotions feel like in the body
💙 How to recognise when they are dysregulated or calm
💚 How awareness helps us make more empowered choices
💛 How parents and children can co-regulate together
HeroScan is deeply inspired by:
🧠 Interoception research
🧠 Polyvagal-informed nervous system regulation
🧠 Emotional literacy and social-emotional learning
🧠 Embodied and play-based learning approaches
But most importantly — it is designed to feel magical, connected, playful, and safe for children.
These sessions are part of our first live HUG Heroes pilot program. Over this pilot period, we will be thoughtfully refining and evolving the program through real-world experience and family feedback.
We warmly welcome observations, reflections, and feedback from participating families as we continue building the HUG Heroes world together.
A core part of HUG Heroes is strengthening co-regulation, connection, and emotional safety within families. We encourage parents to remain engaged in the session and participate alongside their child.
