HSU Rocketry Certification Program

Ready to push beyond model rockets and master high-power rocketry? The HSU Educational Foundation is proud to offer an intensive certification course designed for motivated participants aged 14 and older, preparing you for the National Association of Rocketry (NAR) Junior High Power Participation Program (JrHPP), or full Level 1 certification once you turn 18. Under expert guidance, you'll dive into advanced rocket design, safety protocols, motor handling (with adult supervision as required for juniors), electronics, recovery systems, and hands-on flight certification attempts using H- and I-class motors. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend alongside participants ages 14–17. Having an adult involved will make it easier for participants to continue launching rockets after the course, as rocket motors can only be purchased by individuals who are at least 18 years old and hold a NAR Level 1 certification. Adults who wish to receive the certification as well are required to register themselves. This course develops real-world STEM skills, teamwork, and confidence, culminating in safe, exciting high-power rocket launches conducted in accordance with NAR standards at Green Grass Sod Farm in Samson, Alabama, on April 4, 2026. **Course dates are Saturdays: February 28, 2026, March 14, 21, and 28, 2026 from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm.
