Howie Day’s emotionally resonant lyrics and inventive melodies have earned him both critical acclaim and a devoted global fan base. Known for his energetic, heartfelt live performances, Day connects deeply with audiences through strong songwriting, a quirky sense of humor, and a warm tenor voice that “soars into fluttering high registers while grating with real, pleading grit.”A native of Bangor, Maine, Day began playing piano at age five and guitar at twelve. By fifteen, he was writing his own songs and performing throughout New England, eventually becoming a fixture at college coffeehouses across the U.S. He independently wrote, financed, and released his debut album Australia, which won Best Debut Album at the 2001 Boston Music Awards. While touring, Day pioneered his signature live looping style, layering percussion, vocals, and guitar to create a powerful one-man-band experience.
After selling more than 30,000 copies of Australia independently, Day signed with Epic Records and released Stop All the World Now, featuring the 4× platinum hit “Collide.” Now more than 20 years later, with additional albums (Sound the Alarm, Lanterns) and an enduring live show, Howie Day continues to create moving, unforgettable moments for audiences around the world.
