Howard V. Hendrix will speak about and sign his new book, Living Fossils, Lost Worlds, Last Humans: The Science and Fiction of Population and Extinction, on Tuesday, September 29th at 6:30pm, at Boulder Bookstore.


About the Book:

The narrative tropes of living fossils, lost worlds, and last humans have long foreshadowed the modern discourse around concepts like biodiversity loss, ecological collapse, and human extinction. This book is the first book-length study of the enduring popular relevance in science and fiction of survivors, relicts, and revenants--particularly remnant species of living fossils, remnant spaces of lost worlds, and remnant populations of last humans. Throughout, this book asks what the survival and extinction of other species might mean for human survival and extinction.
