Supporting people through loss, crisis and profound change can feel complex and demanding. This half-day workshop offers practical, research-informed tools to help you respond with clarity, confidence and care.
Led by internationally respected resilience expert Dr Lucy Hone, this session focuses on the human skills that make a real difference when people are facing their hardest moments. Grounded in both science and lived experience, Lucy shares what genuinely helps – and what doesn’t.
This is not clinical training. It’s about strengthening the everyday skills that sit alongside professional practice and community support roles.
Designed for counsellors, coaches, therapists, GPs, health practitioners, educators, and anyone working closely with people, the workshop is equally valuable for volunteers and community leaders. No clinical background is required.
You’ll leave with practical tools and clear frameworks you can use immediately – helping people feel less overwhelmed, more capable, and better able to navigate change.
In this workshop, you will:
• Understand what truly helps people in their darkest moments
• Learn what modern science shows about adapting to loss and change
• Gain practical, evidence-based tools to support others
• Build language and approaches you can apply straight away
• Strengthen people’s sense of agency and ability to cope
Lucy is known globally for her TED Talk, Three Secrets of Resilient People, where she translates research into insights that are clear, grounded and widely applicable.
This is a thoughtful, practical session focused on building stronger, more capable communities.
