About this Event
The CIÉ Group holds extensive collections of records relating to rail and other transport in Ireland from the late eighteenth to the twenty-first century. In 2023 the Group employed its first Group Archivist with a brief to preserve and make available these collections. This talk looks at how the archives service was put in place at CIÉ, what work has been done since 2023, what records are now available, and future plans.
Kevin Forkan was appointed as the first Group Archivist at the CIÉ Group in March 2023. Previous to this he held archival and collections management positions at several institutions, including the National Archives, the National Museum, and M+ Museum in Hong Kong, where he also established an archives service.
