How to Paint En Plein Air: North Beach

Hello everyone! I am finally hosting a plein air work shop! Below are all the important details:

10AM on SUNDAY MAY 17 at 79th STREET AND COLLINS AVENUE

We will meet at the entrance of North Shore Park Beach on I've added an image of the entrance on this event page. There is a public parking lot directly across from the park entrance and plenty of parking along Collins. I do recommend trying to show up a little before call time to find a spot and make your way over.

FREE EVENT, DONATION BASED

There is no fee for this event, only a suggested donation of 20 dollars (if you can!) to @massimo-mongiardo on venmo or [email protected] on Zelle. This will help me re-up on supplies and hopefully make the event more regular in the future!

ALL SKILL LEVELS WELCOME!

I will begin with a short 20-30 min demo where I will be going over the basics of how I construct a piece when painting from observation. The information I share is applicable to all different types of mediums, so feel free to bring tools other than gouache or paint! After that you can either continue to paint along with me or explore the near by area and I will come around to check in on everyone.

BYO ART SUPPLIES RECOMMENDED, BUT SOME SUPPLIES WILL BE AVAILABLE!

I have about enough extra supplies for 10 participants. I do recommend bringing whatever medium you are most comfortable with, or your own gouache kit. Supplies I can provide for about 10 people include:

• 1 panel with water color paper
• 1 panel with palette paper
• Gouache
• Brushes

*I do not have extra easels so if you have one I recommend bringing it!* That said, painting on the ground or in a chair is totally fine as well!

OTHER RECOMMENDED SUPPLIES!

It will probably be pretty hot and we will be basically on the beach so here are some recommended supplies :

• Clothes you're ok with getting paint on
• Shoes you're ok with getting sandy
• A towel, blanket, or beach chair if you will be sitting and painting
• WATER! both for mixing paint and for drinking!
• Sunscreen, hats, etc. it will be hot and sunny!
• Portable easel if you have
