A full-day cultural sensitivity and responsiveness workshop.
About this Event

Renowned Aboriginal trainer and cross‑cultural practice expert Anny Druett will lead this full‑day workshop, designed to deepen your understanding and capability to deliver culturally safe and responsive services with and for First Nations communities.
Hosted by Western Sydney Community Forum, the Centre for Western Sydney, and Gilgai Aboriginal Centre, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to learn directly from Anny, who brings extensive professional experience and lived knowledge as an Aboriginal woman and long‑standing specialist in cross-cultural training.
By the end of the workshop you will be able to:

  • Have a culturally safe yarn with First Nations peoples in your workplace and local community.
  • Ask questions in a culturally safe way.
  • Deliver 'good news' and 'bad news' in a culturally safe way.

The session will also cover:

  • Context for what First Nations peoples want from culturally safe and responsive domestic violence and other support systems.
  • Concepts such as communications and the mother-in-law rule and how it applies to your work practices.
  • Content including connections and kinship and cultural safety versus cultural competency.

Light lunch and refreshments will be provided.
