The Women in Lancaster Digital Network (WILD) invites its members working in digital and tech to join us for an insightful and practical session.
How to Do User Research: Why It Matters and How to Get It Right
User research is a critical part of building effective, inclusive, and successful products and services. No matter what industry you work in (but especially in digital and tech), it underpins everything from development to marketing and beyond.
In this session, we’ll explore why user research is so important, including its role in promoting diversity and avoiding assumptions. Instead of guessing what users need, strong research helps you validate decisions and build with confidence.
We’ll cover:
- The difference between qualitative and quantitative research
- The advantages and disadvantages of each approach
- Key research methods including interviews, surveys, and co-design workshops
- How to choose the right method for your goals
This session will also include a real-life practical example, bringing everything together in a way you can apply directly to your own work. We’ll be focusing on what WILD could look like over the next few years.
