Composting - A 101 on Building Healthy Soil
Host: Mark Stumpf-Allen
Info: Making good compost is a valuable skill - understanding how compost improves soil, assists in nutrient cycling, and impacts plant health will put you on the road to regenerating your soil and, quite possibly, improving your relationship with your garden. A great compost pile is the gateway to a better life.
In the 90s, Mark was a residential landscape designer and a board member for the Edmonton Horticultural Society. In the early 2000s, he worked for a community garden, joined the board of the Community Garden Network, and began teaching Elaine Ingham-style soil management.
Later, while teaching home composting for the City of Edmonton, he adopted regenerative soil management practices and moved to a new paradigm in his relationship with soil.
Since retiring in 2020, he has taken on the Administration of Red Brick Common's Organic Master Gardener Program. The program, in its 18th year, is in partnership with Gaia College in Victoria.
