Detailed Bios

Jennifer Finney Boylan is a celebrated author, journalist and advocate whose work explores themes of identity, family and the human experience. Her influential 2003 memoir, She’s Not There: A Life in Two Genders, was a national bestselling memoir. A former contributing opinion writer for the New York Times and national board member of GLAAD, she spent 25 years teaching at Colby College in Maine before becoming the inaugural Anna Quindlen Writer in Residence at Barnard College of Columbia University. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Wesleyan University and completed her graduate work in creative writing at the Johns Hopkins University Writing Seminars.

Ernest Thompson is a versatile master of storytelling, having achieved major success across film, television, stage and literature. He won an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, and a Writers Guild of America Award for the screenplay adaptation of his own play, On Golden Pond. Over a prolific career, he has written, directed and acted in dozens of film and television projects. Recently, Thompson has expanded his literary repertoire, releasing the novel Out Clause. Thompson grew up spending summers at a lake cottage on Great Pond in the Belgrade Lakes region, which he credits as the inspiration for his most famous work. Today, he lives and writes on a historic farm in New Hampshire.
