Prerequisites: None
Summary: X-ray is an important part of medical treatment and diagnosis. Its also very useful in many other applications. This class will explore what an X-ray is, what common uses for X-ray are, what it is used for, how we visualize it and ways of improving that visualization.
Students will build their own X-ray visualization box with light source and then explore different filtration while viewing an X-ray film to determine the effect of filtration on an image.
Who is my instructor? Your instructor for this workshop is Christy! Here is what Christy has to say about herself:
I graduated from University of Utah with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 2000. My first job out of college was developing driving simulators. I then worked in medical device development developing X-ray equipment for 20+ years. I was the manager for a small team of engineers that developed flat panel detectors for X-ray detection. Recently, I have retired from a full-time job and am looking forward to spending my time helping to people learn of love for stem programs.
