This class is in English. Our classes are also given in French on Saturday mornings. Ce cours est en anglais. Nos cours sont aussi donnés en français les samedi matins.
When most people think of investing they immediately think of the stock market. Then when most people think of the stock market, they think of risk, gambling, people yelling on a trade floor, making and losing money... and for the most part they don't really understand what's going on.
This is unfortunate, because that lack of understanding is at the core of many families' anxiety about the future, be it for their retirement or their children's education or any other goal they may have. Some have taken the "head-in-the-sand" approach, and try to put such concerns out of their mind. This we believe is a mistake, because ignoring a problem seldom makes it go away, and as we often discuss in our classes: decisions that are made for you are almost never going to be in your family's best interest!
Others have taken their investment decisions into their own hands, and have devoted themselves to learning everything they can about investing. While we salute this approach to taking full control of one's life, for many people this is not a feasible option due to a lack of interest, time, math skills or all of the above. While we would not discourage further study into the subject if you are interested, that would require much more time than this course would allow for. What we aim to do here is give a solid, basic understanding of how investments work, and explain some terms in plain english so this important aspect of one's financial life isn't so scary anymore. You can use this class as your first step towards a greater understanding of investing, or as your reference for dealing with investment professionals while knowing the right questions to ask. The point, as always, is to know enough so you are not afraid to ask questions, and to have the confidence to know what questions to ask. As always, you will definitely find that here. :)

We share the same driveway as the Desjardins building and are next to Globo. The doors open at 6:30pm, with coffee and hot chocolate served for those who arrive at that time. Someone will stay downstairs to let people in until 7:10pm, after which time the doors are locked.
