How Do You Wear Your T1D?

This free community screening event and fashion show is to celebrate the Type 1 Diabetes community and provide awareness for early screening and detection of T1D.

Adults and children above 1 years old will have the opportunity to get free screening through the T1Detect program. Vendors and community partners in diabetes care will provide educational resources and information about diabetes services to support children and adults with T1D.

About T1Detect

Wayne Pediatrics has partnered with Breakthrough T1D to provide a free screening program to identify children and adults who are at risk of developing Type 1 Diabetes (T1D).

The goals of this program are to:

1. Detect T1D early and provide education about signs and symptoms

2. Delay the need for insulin

3. Prevent diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) which increases morbidity at diagnosis and contributes to uncontrolled T1D in the future

This program can also help to identify adults who may have been misdiagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes.
