About this Event

Throughout the first day, we will host a series of CV and portfolio workshops which will support students preparing to progress within architectural practice.

These 30-minute 1:1 sessions will provide the opportunity for focused advice on how to present experience, skills and design work clearly and confidently. The workshops will look at what practices need to understand from a CV and portfolio, how to structure content effectively, and how to communicate design ability and professional potential. The sessions will support students in refining their material for practice applications, placements and interviews.

The sessions are intended to be practical, constructive and confidence-building, giving students direct insight into how practices review applications and what helps a candidate stand out for the right reasons.

The in-person sessions will be preceded at 10am with an online talk open for all students from architectural educator, practitioner and recruiter Del Hossain. Book here to attend.

Areas covered will include:

  • Structuring a clear and concise CV
  • Selecting and editing portfolio content
  • Communicating design process as well as final outcomes
  • Tailoring applications for different types of practice
  • Presenting skills, software knowledge and technical experience
  • Preparing for portfolio conversations and interviews

The sessions are intended to be practical, constructive and confidence-building, giving students direct insight into how practices review applications and what helps a candidate stand out for the right reasons.
RIBA London Inter-School Summer Exhibition: 'In Safe Hands'
"In Safe Hands" acknowledges that our profession, our city and our planet are changing rapidly. The profession is at an impasse; from declining fees to broken procurement processes, architecture, and wider built environment systems need to be rebooted and renewed.

To ensure the longevity of the architecture profession, architects must be able to adapt to meet new challenges and act upon untapped opportunities to ensure the buildings and places we rely on are high quality, safe, inclusive, and sustainable both now and into the future.

However, whilst this is our job to address immediately, there is much to be positive about - we have a more intuitive next generation of talent emerging with innovative design proposals which tackle the challenges we face. There should be optimism in the next generation of architects who will shape the future of our city and planet – we are “In Safe Hands”.

RIBA London invites its vast London-based Chartered Practice and Chartered Member network (1,500 Chartered Practices and 7,500 Chartered Members) to view the design proposals and in addition, extends the invite to Local Authorities, private developers, secondary schools and professionals from the wider built environment and adjacent disciplines.
