How Climate Change Influences Migratory Behavior of Short-distance Partial Migrant Birds
While the effects of climate change on long-distance migrants have been studied, we know very little about birds that only fly short distances or do not migrate. Dr. Deshwal, an Assistant Professor of Biology at Bradley University, will talk about his study of two of these species, the Brown Thrasher and the Eastern Towhee, both of which have populations that are in rapid decline. His study uses the automated MOTUS radio telemetry tracking network to help determine how climate change is impacting their arrival times and feeding opportunities.
