House Plays Presents: Dreams & Defiance
About this Event
House Plays Presents: Dreams & Defiance
Join us at the Forbes House Museum on July 25, 2026, at 7:00 PM (EST) for a thought-provoking and powerful vignette play on the theme of dreams and defiance, portrayed by seasoned actors and new voices. Come reflect, connect and experience this unique, in-person event!
We launched House Plays, a new initiative that brings theatre into unconventional spaces outside of traditional gatekeepers for people who cannot attend a traditional theatre space.
This inaugural production is a vignette play that includes the following award-winning pieces:
•This is Not a Bill (by Alexia Rowe; nominated, National Council on Public History and BroadwayWorld)
•Ballad for Madeline (finalist, Boston Theatre Marathon XXIII)
•Alison’s Confession (public reading at the International Women Writers Guild Reconnect & Reimagine Conference 2022)
•The Lady Who Lights the Candles (by Alexia Rowe)
•Healing Racial Trauma (2021 Christianity Today Book Award)
•The Rest of Us (by Alexia Rowe)
•Brown Girl Dreaming (by Jacqueline Woodson; 2015 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work)
•Jannes & Jambres (by Ling Sanford)
•Lord of the Rings
•Listening to Lily (by Alexia Rowe; semi-finalist, Stethoscope Stage Festival 2022).
