This combined lecture and interactive workshop will describe various sources and provide helpful tips for conducting research and telling the story of your historic Springfield home. Jeff Gardner and Kiley Secrest will review useful published and unpublished resources, including the 1985 Springfield Historic Architectural Survey, Jacksonville city directories, federal censuses, Sanborn Fire Insurance maps, deed records, and bird’s eye views. During the remainder of our time, researchers will be directed to relevant examples of these references on-line. Please bring your laptop and any information that you may already have collected on your house.Suggested donation is $10. You may adjust the amount when registering using the ticket link.
