Hotel Saint Vincent Presents: 1st Annual Mahjong Tournament with Saint Mahj
About this Event
Join us for a weekend of spirited competition, thoughtful play, and warm hospitality as we welcome Kelly Walker, founder of Saint Mahj, for our inaugural Mahjong Tournament Weekend at Hotel Saint Vincent.
The weekend begins on Friday, August 21, from 5:00–7:00 PM with a welcome reception in Chapel Club. Enjoy champagne and light bites while meeting fellow players, picking up your tournament schedule, welcome packet, and getting acquainted with Kelly before play begins.
Tournament day kicks off on Saturday, August 22, with doors opening at 8:00 AM. Ease into the morning with open play from 8:00–11:30 AM, accompanied by a continental breakfast with unlimited bloody marys and mimosas. An expansive complimentary lunch will be served from 11:30 AM–12:45 PM before tournament play officially begins from 1:00–5:00 PM.
The tournament champion will receive:
- A 2 night stay at Hotel Saint Vincent
- A $250 San Lorenzo dining credit
- A $100 ByGeorge credit
Guests wishing to make it a full weekend are invited to stay at Hotel Saint Vincent and enjoy a special discounted room rate, available exclusively for tournament participants.
About Saint Mahj
Kelly Walker founded Saint Mahj because she wanted to build a community that felt inclusive - and mahjong turned out to be the perfect way. What began as a handful of women learning to play Mahjong has now grown into a devoted community in New Orleans, built on weekly game nights, lessons, and gatherings where newcomers and longtime players alike show up and stay awhile.
Kelly has turned a small gathering into a thriving community, transforming game nights into beautifully curated social experiences. These events blend hospitality, design, and tradition, creating welcoming spaces where strangers become friends.
Mahjong was never just about the game. It's a ritual - an excuse to slow down, linger a little longer, and connect with people you may never have met otherwise.
