Sarah Hoover is a best selling author, art historian, and repentant former art dealer. Her memoir, The Motherload: Episodes From the Brink of Motherhood, was The Times’ UK’s “book of the week,” Belletrist Book Club’s January 2025 pick, debuted on USA Today’s national Best-selling Booklist, and is now in development at 20th Century Fox and Hulu to be adapted for series. 

Sarah will be appearing in person at this event to participate in a Q&A with the talented Stephanie Danler and sign copies of the book available for purchase.

BIO:

Sarah Hoover is a best selling author, art historian, and repentant former art dealer. Her memoir, The Motherload: Episodes From the Brink of Motherhood, was The Times’ UK’s “book of the week,” Belletrist Book Club’s January 2025 pick, debuted on USA Today’s national Best-selling Booklist, and is now in development at 20th Century Fox and Hulu to be adapted for series. She holds a master’s degree in cultural theory from Columbia and a BA in art history from NYU. Her writing has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Harper’s Bazaar, Psychology Today, The Strategist, and Vogue. She lives in New York with her husband and two kids.

Stephanie Danler is a novelist, memoirist, and screenwriter. She is the author of Stray and the international bestseller Sweetbitter. She is the creator and executive producer of the Sweetbitter television series on Starz.

Her work has appeared in the Sewanee Review, The New York Times Book Review, Vogue, Airmail, T: The New York Times Style Magazine, The Paris Review Daily, Time, Travel & Leisure, CondeNast Traveler, and New York Magazine.

Her nonfiction received an Honorable Mention in Best American Essays 2018 and 2019, and her criticism won the 2019 Robert B. Heilman award from the Sewanee Review.

In 2022, she sold Smog, a neo-noir novel set in 1990s Los Angeles, to Scribner and Scribner UK.
