About this Event
The Longhouse Initiative is an emerging arts and humanitarian hub in the Buckeye–Shaker community. Inspired by traditional longhouses—historic gathering spaces for culture, conversation, and collective care—our work continues that legacy by creating places for people to speak, create, heal, and connect.
Our mission is to build a consistent community space for storytelling, art, dialogue, and mutual support. ROOTS is our first four-part mini-series designed to explore identity, culture, and the stories that shape us.
About the Series
ROOTS invites participants to reflect on where they come from and how community, ancestry, and lived experiences ground us. Each Saturday dives into culture, creativity, and collective storytelling.
What to Expect Every Saturday
- Open Mic & Storytelling – poetry, spoken word, music, and personal sharing
- Discussion Circles – conversations on culture, history, and identity
- Writing & Creative Expression – prompts, journaling, reflection
- Music + Art Energy – a relaxed, creative atmosphere
- Open Pantry Access – free everyday essentials, no requirements
- Community Connection – a warm, welcoming space to meet and build
This series creates a consistent weekly rhythm—every Saturday—offering space to ground yourself, express freely, and connect with others.
