Settle in from 6 pm as Mikelangelo takes the stage for a live performance in the NFSA heritage courtyard. Enjoy local wines, summer cocktails and charcuterie, available for purchase onsite from Dom’s deli & bar. Then head into Arc Cinema at 8 pm for a screening of Blue Hawaii.

ABOUT MIKELANGELO 🎶
Mikelangelo is the stage persona of Australian singer, songwriter, and performer Michael Simic, one of Australia’s true musical mavericks.
Born in 1969 in Canberra to a Croatian father and English mother, Simic was encouraged from an early age to embrace creativity, a foundation that has deeply shaped his artistic career.
Mikelangelo’s music is shaped by over 25 years of performing, recording, and touring under his moniker, drawing on an eclectic mix of genres, including transgressive folk, outlaw country, 1950s blues and doo-wop, spaghetti western soundtracks, instrumental surf, baroque pop, and the darker edges of rock'n'roll. Whether performing intimate solo sets or commanding large festival stages, Mikelangelo’s live shows are a dynamic blend of wild energy, emotional depth, and humour.
Mikelangelo’s unmistakable baritone voice and charismatic stage presence have made him a beloved figure in Australian and global music scenes. Throughout his career, Mikelangelo has performed sold-out shows across Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Europe, Canada, and the US. His work has garnered critical acclaim, earning praise from major outlets like The Age, Sydney Morning Herald, Time Out (UK), The Scotsman (UK), and La Presse (Canada).
For the event at the NFSA, Mikelangelo reverts to his “Balkan Elvis” persona to celebrate the wonder that is The King.
