ABOUT MONICA ENGEL 🎶
The love child of Kate Bush and Tori Amos, Monica Engel is Canberra’s secret treasure. An accomplished songwriter, vocalist and pianist, Monica makes music that is at once earnest and whimsical, and whispers straight to the heart.
A passionate and diverse artist, she recently returned from the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, performing in Live Music Nights, Electric Cabaret and Little Dove Theatre Art’s award-winning show, Six Women Standing in Front of a White Wall.
Monica has appeared in various theatre productions including It’s a Wonderful Life and Danny, The Champion of the World, Anastasia Krupnik and a director’s showcase of Stitching. She was a member of the Choir for the Australian of the Year Awards and has performed her original compositions in venues including Festival of the Forest, Smiths Alternative, Enlighten Festival, Sound and Fury, Winterfest, and Haig Park Experiments.
Monica’s work as an actor, musician, composer and visual artist, has richly informed her work as a drama, art and music teacher in a diverse range of environments. Monica was awarded the Bill Hyslop Prize in Voice for her work at the ANU School of Music in 2020.
